Desk Setup & Office Essentials for Working From Home

A well-set-up desk makes everything easier.
These are the desk setup items and office essentials I personally use every day to stay organized, focused, and on track while running my business from home.

This list includes both the physical tools and simple systems I rely on to keep things running smoothly.

Mousepad

I use a Surface Pro, and this mouse pad is perfect for my Arc Mouse. It glides smoothly and is so comfortable without taking up unnecessary space. It also doesn't show dirt so it always looks brand new!

Bamboo Folder Holder

Right now, mine is holding 25+ client folders plus two clipboards, and it still doesn’t feel cramped. I keep all active clients here so everything is upright, visible, and easy to grab or quick to scan through.

Bamboo Desk File & Mail Organizer

This is where incoming papers and mail go immediately instead of piling up on my desk. It is smaller than the folder holder but matches it perfectly! Having a clear landing spot makes it easier to stay organized without feeling overwhelmed by a desk full over papers that have to keep getting moved.

Clear Plastic Pen Holder

This is one of my favorites because it’s clear and I can instantly see where my colored pens are versus my boring ones. I never have to say "where's a pen"

Menu Holder (Used as a Desktop Calendar Stand)

This is a total game changer. I use it to hold my calendar wide open on my desk, so all I have to do is glance over to see what’s coming up. It’s simple, visible, and keeps priorities front and center.

Bamboo 3-Drawer Storage Set

I use this for overflow pens (because yes, I have a pen addiction), tiny rubber bands, White-Out, and all the little things that need a home. It keeps small items contained without cluttering my desk surface and the drawers are clear!

Cork Boards (Wall-Mounted)

I have a few cork boards on my walls: one holds a physical calendar so I can easily switch the months, another pins items that need to stay top of mind and others pin cards and pictures. It’s an easy visual system that keeps important things visible without sticky notes sticking to everything on the desk.

ClosetMaid 8-Cube Organizer

I keep this cube organizer in my closet, and it’s one of those pieces that quietly keeps everything under control. It holds my thank-you notes, marketing materials like business cards, pens, and stickers, along with monthly files and a few aesthetic touches like fake plants.

Having all of this stored neatly but still easy to access keeps my desk clear and my workflow calmer. Everything has a place, which makes it easier to stay organized without overthinking where things should go.

Coasters

I keep coasters on my desk so I don’t have to think twice about setting a drink down. They protect the desk and help keep the space feeling intentional instead of chaotic.

Plants

I kill all real plants, so small fake succulents are perfect for me. They add a little life to the space without any maintenance or guilt.
